Below is a bit of profile information on The Children's Hospital and Foundation, explaining what they do.
"With your help, we support and improve hospital and child health care services across Manitoba. Last year, over 130,000 children from all over Manitoba, Northwestern Ontario and Nunavut relied on the Children's Hospital for care. It is a critical piece of our community. Children's Hospital reaches far beyond the walls of Health Sciences Centre in downtown Winnipeg, providing programs, clinical outreach, support and services in every pediatric unit in the province and across the children's patient transport system. The Foundation also supports outstanding clinical research that promises and delivers better care and treatment.
Since 1971, the Children’s Hospital Foundation of Manitoba has inspired and rallied donors like you to improve and help save young lives. The vision of the Children’s Hospital Foundation of Manitoba is to be the charity of choice devoted to funding excellence in child health care and child health research. With the support of individual donors and corporate partners, the Children’s Hospital Foundation of Manitoba ensures that there is a reliable, consistent, and significant flow of funds available to augment government funding of Children’s Hospital – HSC Winnipeg. Your philanthropy keeps the system robust and successful by increasing the hospital’s capacity to run important and innovative programs and acquire state-of-the-art equipment. In 2001, the Children’s Hospital Foundation of Manitoba established the Children’s Hospital Research Institute of Manitoba to bring together researchers committed to unlocking the mysteries of childhood disease. The Institute is a centre of excellence in pediatric research and has attracted leading investigators from around the world to advance their work in Winnipeg. The Children’s Hospital cares for more than 120,000 patients every year and offers important support to their families."
