Annual Scholarships
Applications must be received at the TEAM office by end of day September 16, 2019.
Members’ Children Scholarships
TEAM-IFPTE Local 161 will award up to four scholarships of $1,000 each to first year post-secondary students enrolled in university, community college, trade school or an apprenticeship program.
To be eligible, the student must be:
- A dependent child or stepchild of a TEAM member.
- Under 21 years of age.
- Enrolled in their first year of post-secondary education.
- Not have previously received a TEAM Scholarship award.
Scholarships are based on the student's scholastic achievement, community involvement, social activism and volunteerism. The decisions of the Scholarship Committee are final. All information received by the Scholarship Committee will remain confidential, however, the names of award recipients and/or the applying TEAM Member may be shared with the membership and posted on the TEAM website.
The application must include the following information:
- A copy of the official transcript of marks for all final Grade 12 courses or equivalent technical or academic transcripts detailing marks and grades obtained.
- Proof of first year enrollment and acceptance in a post-secondary institution for the 2019-2020 year.
- A brief resume of interests, social activism, volunteerism, and future career plans.
- A written character reference (not from a relative).

Members Scholarships
TEAM-IFPTE Local 161 will award up to four scholarships of up to $500 each to TEAM members to defray the cost of a work or career related academic or vocational course or seminar. Where the cost of the training is less than $500, the award will cover the cost of the training plus related incidentals to a maximum of $500.
To be eligible, the member must:
- Be a TEAM member in good standing for at least one year by the application close date.
- Not have previously received a TEAM Scholarship award.
- Not be receiving reimbursement from the Company for the same training.
The application must include the following information:
- An outline of the training the member is currently taking or registered to take.
- A brief explanation of how the training will help in their current job and/or how it fits with their career aspirations and goals.
- Evidence of current enrollment and the cost of training.

Extra Information
- The decisions of the Scholarship Committee are final.
- All information received by the Scholarship Committee will remain confidential, however, the names of award recipients may be shared with the membership and posted on the TEAM website.
- Successful TEAM Scholarship recipients will be required provide a Social Insurance Number and mailing address for the T4A.
