TEAM Office Staff Changes: Our Labour Relations Officer, Wesley Emerson, is retiring from TEAM. We wish him well and thank him for the great work he has done for us over the past four years. Taking over his duties will be Erin Spencer. Erin has been TEAM’s Labour Relations Analyst since 2009, and has been an active advocate for union members since 2006.

Collective Agreement: The new booklets will be distributed in January. The online and PDF versions are available here.

IFPTE weighs in on Bill to revise rules governing Defined Benefit Pension Plans: In October, the Liberal government introduced Bill C-27, “An Act to amend the Pension Benefits Standards Act, 1985”. The MTS DB Pension Plan is covered by this Act, and as such, this Bill raises concerns for active members and retirees. The IFPTE has written the Minister of Finance voicing some of these concerns. TEAM’s legal counsel is reviewing the Bill and will advise on any potential for impact on our members. In the New Year we will be asking for your participation in our lobbying efforts to have the Bill amended where our pensions could be put at risk if the Bill is enacted in its current form.
