As Canadian citizens and as members of TEAM we enjoy the benefits of a unionized workplace and protections incorporated in federal and provincial laws and regulations.
With a federal election upon us, it is worthwhile not just to read campaign advertising, but to look at the historical record of Canada’s political parties to see what they have done to help or hinder workers over the years.
A TEAM member volunteered to research and prepare a list of historical events, illustrating some of the ideas and legislation of Canada’s political parties. The list includes examples of both federal and provincial legislation, since many important national programs originated in the provinces. We invite you to draw your own conclusions.
Check here that you are registered to vote and exercise that right of citizenship on October 19th, 2015. Advance voting starts this Friday.
