Ratification Results - April 1 2008
TEAM members have voted to accept the negotiated agreement between TEAM-IFPTE Local 161 and MTS Allstream Inc.
The vote, counted at noon today April 1, 2008, was overseen by the Chief Returning Officer and was counted and scrutinized by three volunteers from the TEAM membership.
The three-year agreement, reached after a year of hard bargaining was unanimously recommended by your Bargaining Committee. Following are some highlights of the agreement:
Pension: Removal of the Defined Contribution Pension plan from the bargaining process. Right to challenge the introduction of a DC pension plan through an injunction on the basis that it is connected to the pension lawsuit.
Layoff: Significant improvements for TEAM members. Greater protection for single incumbents as positions will be grouped with like job functions. Members will have the opportunity to displace contractors and receive up to four weeks training to enable them to do so. Also, broader VRIP and recall opportunities including Right of Recall doubled from 90 days to 180 days.
Salary: Full retroactivity to February 19, 2007, 2%, 2.5%, and 2.5% with no delays, effective February 20th of each year. Variable Pay Plan effective January 1, 2009, 1% for 301-305, increased to 6% for 306-308.
New wording: Respect in the workplace – no discrimination or harassment in the workplace and no discrimination for participation in TEAM. Parental leave, compassionate care leave and bereavement leave wording added. Establishment of a Labour Management Committee.
Your support during the bargaining process was critical to our success. Well attended meetings, a resounding mandate to get back to the bargaining table in October, member actions, input and ideas, open lines of communication, and a commitment to the bargaining team all helped in reaching this agreement.
