- Take-a-Break Gift Cards and Voting Package on Proposed Revisions to the Constitution and Bylaws: Good news, the gift cards and constitution and bylaws voting packages are being mailed out, finally! We apologize for the delay and appreciate your patience. The deadline for ballots on the amended constitution and bylaws is 4:30pm, May 25th, 2021. Please contact the TEAM Office if you have questions about the package or the voting process.
- Bell Jobs for TEAM Members: Ensuring TEAM members continue to have access to jobs and opportunities to grow and develop their careers is a top priority for TEAM, and especially so since Bell acquired MTS. In our memo of April 13th, we outlined our collective concerns about Bell policies that restrict Manitobans and TEAM members from applying for and performing “national jobs”. We are pleased to see that Bell is now posting jobs that include Manitoba as a location from which the work can be conducted. Links to the open postings are below, but you’ll have to move fast on these ones because they close tomorrow:
While we continue to follow-up with Bell to ensure TEAM members have ongoing open and fair access to job opportunities, we strongly encourage interested TEAM members to apply for these opportunities. Please contact us with any questions or concerns you have regarding these and other postings.
- Scholarship Updates: In our February 18th, New and Noteworthy, we let members know about a scholarship opportunity offered by the Union of National Employees, a component of the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC-UNE), for members’ children graduating high school in 2021. We are pleased to announce that Kate Durston (child of TEAM member Scott Durston) was selected as one of two winners to share the $1,000 award.
There is still time to apply for this year’s IFPTE Dominick D. Critelli, Jr. Annual Scholarships. Every year, the IFPTE awards four scholarships of $2,500 USD each to children or grandchildren of IFPTE members who wish to continue their education beyond high school. Applications must be postmarked or submitted electronically on or before May 15, 2021.
Another scholarship opportunity available to TEAM members is the MFL Al and Alma Cerilli Scholarship. This $1,000 award is offered annually by the Manitoba Federation of Labour’s Young Members Committee to a member of an affiliated union under the age of 35 to assist in advancing their post-secondary education. The deadline for applications is May 28, 2021.
Look for applications for this year’s TEAM Scholarships to be sent out in August.
- TEAM Membership Work Experience & Wellness Survey: We had a great response to our survey, with over 300 members sharing their opinions and thoughts. While we are still working through the hundreds of comments and analyzing the results, one thing that comes through clearly so far is that despite the many challenges members face in their day-to day work lives, for most, working from home has been a positive experience they would like to see continue after the pandemic. Thanks again to everyone who took the time to participate!
