Contract negotiations with Bell continued over two days last week with the aid of the federally appointed Conciliator. During the talks, the Company's negotiator apologized for the confusion and explained that they had misunderstood Bell’s vacation schedule proposal and its anticipated impact on TEAM members.
From Bell's revised explanation of the proposal, we understand that the issue of delayed vacation increments will only affect members whose NCS date falls in the first four months of the year, delaying their next vacation increment by eight months. Our negotiating committee will present a counter proposal that we believe would resolve the issue for affected members.
On a more positive note, we are pleased to inform you that the Company has now offered to make Bell SMEs available to our negotiating committee, which should help expedite the negotiations. Also, the parties have agreed to continue exchanging information and ideas throughout June, without the direct aid of the conciliator, unless required.
The next scheduled conciliation dates are June 27 and 28, with an additional two days in early July agreed to last week.
