Termination of the Collective Agreement

RE:       Termination of the Collective Agreement

On June 14th the Company served notice that it will terminate the TEAM Collective Agreement on September 11, 2010 and that they may implement changes to the terms and conditions of your employment.  Click here for an information sheet that explains what this could mean.

The threatened changes are a pressure tactic to force acceptance of concessions, such as the elimination of Personal Leave Days.  It is hard not to regard these demands as insulting, especially when management and investors have repeatedly cited the Company's success in Manitoba, and by implication, the value of Manitoba employees.  Last year $168 million in dividends was paid to shareholders, due in no small part to the work of TEAM members.

We are back in conciliation on August 4th to 6th and are asking for your help to let senior management know that its demands are not acceptable.

How can you help?

  1. Let senior management know how strongly you feel about the Company’s demands by signing this letter to Pierre Blouin and forwarding it to the TEAM office via fax (231-2809) or to B2000 inter-office mail for delivery.
  1. Remind senior management that Manitoba employees are responsible for MTS Allstream's financial health by putting up a ‘Made in Manitoba’ tent card.  We will be using the CAR network to distribute the tents in the coming days.

Our response to management's demands is reasonable.  By standing together we will secure a Collective agreement that better recognises the value of our work.
