Re:          Bullying & Psychological Harassment Survey

November 15-22 was Bullying Awareness Week in Canada.

Some facts:

·         Workplace bullying is a serious problem affecting thousands of organizations; no workplace is immune, including MTS Allstream.

·         Effects of bullying behaviour can negatively impact the mental and physical health of the individual being targeted, as well as the profitability of the organization.

·         A 2007 study of American workers found that 37% reported being bullied at work, and 12% have witnessed bullying at work[1].

Raising awareness of the serious consequences and harmful effects of bullying is an integral part of resolving the problem, and TEAM is working to bring about protections through Company policies, and changes to government legislation.

We are pleased to announce that a number of TEAM’s recommendations regarding bullying in the workplace have been implemented in the latest revision of the Company’s Respectful Workplace Policy.

To further promote awareness and demonstrate the need for legislation to protect workers from bullying TEAM-IFPTE Local 161 is asking its members to participate in a brief confidential (no name required) survey sponsored by the Manitoba Federation of Labour (MFL). The survey will help to gain insight into the experiences of Manitoba workers regarding psychological harassment and bullying at work; please see attachments (Introduction & Survey)

We encourage you to take a few minutes to complete the survey.
